Evaluation: What have you learned from your audience feedback?

http://youdontownme2017.freeforums.net/post/2/thread

Above is a link to the forum I created.

1)The majority of the audience answered that they watched the trailer once, this shows that the audience is able to understand the plot of the film without needing to watch the trailer multiple times. It also makes it clear that the majority will only watch the trailer once so they need to be captivated by it the first time.
2)All audience members stated that the part which they particularly enjoyed of the trailer is the part where Ella is holding a gun, we hear the gun shot and the screen cuts to black with sirens in the background. It proved to be the most popular sequence in my trailer as it was unique and also unusual for the drama genre. It was an effective shot as it created drama and intrigue as the audience has to imagine what has happened. It is also clear in the trailer  that according to Blumler and Katz's 'uses and gratifications' theory the intention of the film is for escapism and entertainment for the audience.
3)The audience also liked following protagonists who are unconventional for the genre, especially as the protagonists are the same age and from the same area as those in the audience. They felt it made the story much more relatable to them as they were actually able to engage and empathise with the feelings of the protagonists. By having two young female protagonists, the audience also felt much more open to the drama genre, this is because some had conceptions that this was a genre aimed at and only enjoyed by older people. Young women in the audience were also pleased to see a different portrayal of young girls, one that doesn't revolve around a love interest or follows the tropes of typical 'chick flicks' which are aimed at teenage girls. This also proves that young people would be open to a range of different genres if they see themselves accurately represented.
4)According to the responses from the audience feedback, they felt that the use of music was very effective. Some of the audience already knew the song, which meant that they could further enjoy the trailer by bringing their own connotations of the song into the viewing experience. The audience also believed that the song worked well with the narrative of the trailer and liked the fact that the shots in the trailer were cut in time to the song.
5)From the experiences of the audience, the trailer showed an accurate portrayal of female youth as multiple audience members of the same demographic as the protagonists said they could connect with the feelings of them. An audience member said that although they liked the diversity and representation of female youth, they would like to seen an even wider representation of female youth from more different backgrounds. This is definitely something that I would like to explore in any future texts I make.
6)The majority of the audience had also not seen an independent film but said that they would now be more compelled to do so after watching the trailer. This, again, proves that the younger female audience is not only interested in mainstream romantic films and in fact likes to see representations of young women in different genres.
7)The audience seemed to like the cinematography and much of this lends itself to the fact that there were many shots of NYC in the trailer. They also liked the fact that the cinematography was not over-stylised as for shooting I only used natural light, which made the audience feel more immersed in the story and able to empathise with the situations of the protagonists more.
8)Although the voice-over is a common convention of real trailers, the audience still felt as though it was effective and liked the fact that it was from the perspective of a teenage girl. It was also an effective way for me to convey the plot of the film while keeping the imagery and sound more like a music video.
9)Overall, the audience thought that enough of the plot was shown. Some said that they thought the trailer could have shown more but understood that it did not show the whole narrative otherwise the audience would know the whole plot of the film and not need to see it.
10)Finally, all of the audience members said that they would watch the film, which means it catered well to the target audience of teenagers and specifically teenage girls above 15 years of age.
